Deertick adds a Florida date... in Tallahassee

Actually considering driving all the way up there for this one... maybe.

Vámonos atrás pa’ los años 80/ Pa’ cuando Madonna era virgen

I guess everyone in the free world who hasn't been scrounging for pennies or writing SEO articles for a similar wage during the past few weeks has prob already seen this - but I felt the need to post it. Just watch it again, okay?

Vocal Improvement of the Year

Is it just me or is Look Mexico's frontman sounding more and more melodious as time goes on?

Bye Bye

Last you heard of Ryan Adams, he was moping around Hi-Fi in the the East Village with his strawberry margarita, desperately attempting to get your former roommate's sister's boyfriend to go home with him and some barely-there mascara'd banged bottle blonde. But now he's back!

...just to say that he's leaving. And that he's feeling blissful.

Or that's what he posted on his celebblog. Yeah, read: "atlanta will be my last venture with the [Cardinals] and i am grateful for the time we have had and maybe someday we will have more stories to tell together. i am however ready for quieter times as i think it is very evident i am struggling with some balance and hearing issues."

Adams goes on to regretfully hark back to his more "manic blogging" and to report his celebblogging days are over. He knows who he is now, and he doesn't need you anymore. You don't love him. ("also it is kind of ridiculous to blog as i am a musician and anything i say here just gets reprinted at some point out of context. i say NOT FAIR but it doesn’t matter what i say anymore or what is fair anymore really does it- the 21st century media has it’s [sic] own rules about what is true and what is not.")

Apparently he also quit smoking.

Happiness is good. Bye, Ryan.

Your Merriweather Post Pavilion Fix

Miss the release party for the new Animal Collective at Sweat Records last night? Live in a town that's hardly on the map? Then get your fix online. Allow me to assist you:

Here are four takes/reviews on the album from Culture Bully. Four is always better than one. Just don't be alarmed when the huge album art replica starts to ripple back and forth.

Random fact on the track "My Girls."

The album elicits a positive reaction sort of from Poptarts Suck Toasted's Animal Collective-hating girlfriend for this week's Tuesday's Recommended Release.

And, of course, the MySpace.

Lastly, what would this American blog be if it didn't reduce an artistic endeavor to a cheap commodity? Get your Summertime Clothes ringtone here. Bluetooth that ish to your phone and prove to your friends that you read p4k, even though you totally h8 it.

The JeanMarie w/ Rachel Goodrich, Mañana

@ Heathrow lounge
FREE before 11pm/$5

If my car gets out of the shop tomorrow, you'll see me here. If not, I guess I'll just catch these guys at their CD release party at the Vagabond.

Their CD, Annie Jump Cannon (which may or may not have an exclamation point on the end), drops January 23. Get the digital version at all of the regular spots.

See? The Florida music scene isn't all bad, just mostly bad.

I guess now would be a good time to link to that NY Times article everyone else this side of Broward county has already linked.

In The City

Will Whitney Port choose to be a downtown hipster or an uptown socialite?

It's weird - I never knew anyone got to choose between the two. Obviously I made the wrong decision; if I'd just gotten in with the uptown socialites I probably never would've been forced to eat 5-for-a-dollar fried wontons for daily sustenance or to wear an outfit more than once.

Yes, the show is boring as shit. Seriously boring. Another show where the people involved do one thing and spend the rest of the show telling each other about it. But if you want to hear some good music on MTV, it's advisable to listen for it in the background sounds of shows like this.

That's my excuse, anyway.
